Profile
THEON Sensors was established in 1997, by a group of experienced professionals in the field of electro-optics and located in privately-owned terrain of 4.000m² with facilities of 1200 m² at Koropi, near the new Athens International Airport, with enough space to accommodate further growth.
It has since become an internationally recognized developer and manufacturer of night vision products which are in service today with a wide number of Armed Forces around the world.
The development and manufacturing of products is performed in-house and the company’s main activities fall under two divisions: Electro-Optics and Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
While THEON Sensors is the main supplier of Night Vision Equipment to the Greek Army, an international network of customers and partners has been established. In fact, THEON Sensors supplies its systems to Armed Forces and Police in 12 countries all around the world out of which 6 countries are NATO members. In addition, THEON Sensors cooperates with renowned vehicle manufactures from around the world supplying Night Vision Driver Viewers for armoured vehicles and main battle tanks.
THEON Sensors personnel are experienced professionals, who accumulate decades of experience in the design, development, manufacture and integration of electro optic products for defence applications. The company’s range in product and services includes:
- Night driver’s viewers for armoured vehicles;
- Modification kits for upgrading night driving periscopes;
- Night vision weapon sights;
- Night vision monocular sights;
- Clip-on afocal night sights;
- Optical and mechanical design;
- Maintenance services;
In electro-optics, THEON Sensors offers a family of image intensified driver’s viewers for several types of armoured vehicles and main battle tanks. With special-to-the-vehicle bracket assemblies the basic design can be fitted to almost any kind of vehicle. (e.g. M113 A2 – M113AS, Leonidas, PzH 2000, Piranha, Leguan AVLB, Leopard 1 and Leopard 2). THEON Sensors‘ 4X and 6X magnification night vision weapon sights for a variety of individual and crew served weapons are low-weight, small-dimension and offer excellent bore-sighting retention and performance under all light conditions.
In MEMS, THEON Sensors is the first privately owned Hellenic fabless design house focused on the development of silicon based Micro – Systems (MEMS) to IC analog and mixed signal systems. Its business and commercial orientation, ensures the establishment of flexible and interactive relationship with potential clients, in order to produce, develop and integrate innovative custom made systems solutions. The MEMS engineering team is in the position to bring to the global market new products due to our in house developed technologies or technologies that have been developed and used under license by domestic and international academic and research institutions.
THEON Sensors has modern development, production and quality control tools to support its production, design and development operations. To accomplish our task, we have extensive know how and highly sophisticated advanced optical, mechanical & electronic CAD and simulation software tools. Manufacturing and development operations are supported by a fully equipped machine shop using multi axis CNC centres, a wide range of test stations for detailed measurements of day, night and thermal subassemblies, (e.g. MTF), environmental chambers, wire and die bonders and clean rooms (class 100, 1.000, 100.000 ) for assembly and integration of silicon based micro systems.
THEON Sensors maintains a quality assurance system in accordance with ISO-9001:2008. The manufacturing facilities and the personnel have NATO Security clearances for defence related projects.
THEON Sensors products are designed and manufactured with the highest levels of workmanship and materials in order to meet the demanding requirements and conditions of their use. THEON Sensors‘ leading position as a designer and supplier especially in the area of electro-optical systems in Hellas has been earned due to its focus on innovation, quality, cost effectiveness and superior value for its customers.
