THEON Sensors' MEMS business unit was founded in 2004. It is located alongside the other activities of the company in its privately owned facilities (1400 m2) at the industrial zone of Koropi, nearby the new Athens International Airport.

The MEMS business Unit is the first privately owned Hellenic fabless design house that specializes on the development of silicon based Micro-Systems (MEMS) utilizing micro-electronic technologies. Its prime scope of work is to design, develop and produce flexible and customer specific MEMS via standard industrial processes employed for sophisticated monitoring and control applications.

THEON Sensors is in a position to undertake the task of designing customer specific MEMS (by using either open end manufacturing processes or even establishing altogether new ones) for applications that require the measurement of physical quantities such as: The systems mentioned above are silicon integrated and manufactured by Semiconductor Foundries according to THEON's specifications, designs and guidelines. Silicon Integration enables the accomplishment of miniature dimensions, the minimization of energy consumption, and the decrease of cost while retaining robustness and design versatility.

The MEMS Business unit aim is the satisfaction of its client's needs in terms of customization and design flexibility, based on its inherent capabilities, expertise in design, development and integration of MEMS products. In contrary to what the MEMS market offers nowadays, THEON Sensors can deliver complete engineering solutions while expressly adapting the product to the client's specifications in terms of measurement range and bandwidth, working conditions, dimensional requirements and cost constraints. Therefore the added value for the client is a complete, technologically advanced component ready to be installed to its system without any or the minimum necessary need of further modification or calibration.

The key to success for THEON is filling the gap between Silicon Foundries, OEM Manufacturers and System Integrators for the benefit of the end user, who is otherwise unable to deal with all three parties at once in order to receive a product that meets his demands.

The MEMS team is a dynamic mixture of senior engineers and young graduates combining experience with motivation in a unique way. This strong and talented engineering team is capable of offering high quality products for a wide variety of applications. In close collaboration with the experienced management and marketing team it is in a position to deliver complete engineering solutions while adapting the product to the client's specifications.

The MEMS business unit class 1000 clean room is equipped with modern measurement & testing apparatuses for sensor calibration and environmental testing, as well as machinery for circuit prototyping, electronic packaging and sensor assembly. Moreover, it includes placement and bonding equipments. The MEMS team utilizes state-of-the-art CAD tools and simulators for electronic design & simulation, MEMS design & simulation and 3D engineering drawing.
