NS-243A, Mini Night Vision Weapon Sight
At the Defensys 2010, THEON Sensors (Pavilion 15, Stand 128) reveals its new mini night vision weapon sight, model NS-243A.
The mini weapon sight is the latest addition to THEON Sensors‘ existing range of night vision weapon sights that includes models with 3X, 4X and 6X magnifications and Field of views of 13, 10 and 6.8 degrees respectively.
The NS-243A with an outstandingly large FOV of 20 degrees for enhanced situational awareness at 2.1X magnification has been designed for use with small caliber (5.56 mm) assault rifles, where there is increasing need for a mini, robust, light weight, high performance night sight.
The sight is in full compliance with the USMC, Crane Division, specification for the mini night vision weapon sight and is probably the only alternative to the fielded US Army AN/PVS-17 sight.
In addition to the large FOV of 20 degrees, the NS-243A sight features among others a very comfortable 14 mm on-axis exit pupil at 25 mm eye relief for easy placement of the sight, operation by a single 3-Volt lithium CR-123 battery for increased operation in low temperatures, five levels of reticle illumination, momentary push button to save power and remote power cable.
The sight’s controls and buttons are easily accessed by both left and right handed operators and the battery compartment is upward oriented.
The sight is fitted with high performance image (US and European) intensifier tubes.
Castings from lightweight ULTEM resulted in a total weight of less than 850 grams.
